ELA is committed to engaging actively in policy and law reform processes to promote improved environmental outcomes. The experience and expertise of ELA's members - including prominent lawyers, scientists and conservationists - provides a firm foundation for constructive, informed engagement in national policy processes.


We assist with legal advice, research, drafting and review of submissions on government proposals, reviews of legislation and proactive policy work. ELA is an active member of various Technical Committees such as the Protected Areas Committee, Integrated Coastal Management Committee, Offshore Minerals Committee and the Turtle Steering Committee.We also attend key local and regional meetings and support community groups and individuals seeking to influence and participate in environmental law policy and law reform activities.
